You can prevent having aggravated testicular cancer by performing a self examination of your testicles. All you have to do is feel them after a warm shower and see if there is something unusual down there. Why after a warm shower? Because warmth makes the scrotum relax and anything you might want to feel is more exposed this way.
How To Perform A Self Examination
Feel each testicle with both hands, using our index finger and thumb to gently grab the testicle, while massaging all the surface of the testicle for possible lumps. Keep in mind that your right testicle is larger and hangs lower - this is normal. Also, you shouldn't apply too much pressure on the testicle, as you are searching for lumps on the surface of the testicle and you also shouldn't feel any pain during
the examination.
Cancerous lumps usually develop on the side of the testicle. You might feel the epididymis while performing this check, which are the glands used to transport sperm. They are located on the top and on the back of your testicles. Do not confuse them with unusual lumps.
Cancerous lumps on the testicles vary in size, but they are usually the size of a pea and they are not painful. There is a chance to find something similar - infection lumps that can be treated with medication prescribed by a doctor. Also, do not panic if you find such lumps because testicular cancer is very easily curable, especially if found in an early stage.
Other Signs Of Testicular Cancer
- pain or discomfort in the scrotum or testicle
- testicles feel heavy
- loss or gain size of the testicles
- aching in the scrotum or lower abdomen (slighter of what a kick in the crotch might feel)
If you ever stumble upon something peculiar in your genitalia area, make sure you get a doctor to check it. Whatever it may be (cancer, infection, fat), it has to be checked and treated. Most importantly: do not feel embarrassed to go have it examined. Doctors are professionals and see penises every day - yours won't be much different of what they see regularly.
